An extremely interesting aspect was chosen by V. Slobodian, researching acting schools in the cinematography of Ukraine. The author focuses on the work of theater actors of Les Kurbas in the cinema, which makes it possible to judge the contribution of the great director to the art of cinema, despite the fact that no film directed directly by Kurbas has survived. The actors of the Kurbasa theater showed themselves brilliantly in the films of O. Dovzhenko, I. Kavaleridze, and other famous directors, fully taking advantage of the lessons of their great teacher.

The films of V. Shukshin - "Stoves-benches", "Viburnum Red" arouse considerable interest among viewers and scientists; O. Mindadze and V. Abdrashitova - "The Train Stopped", "Parade of the Planets", "Plumbum, or a Dangerous Game"; M. Mikhalkova – "Slave of Love", "Unfinished piece for mechanical piano", "Tired by the sun"; G. Panfilova - "The Beginning", "I'm Asking for Words" and others.

The film "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" was conceived as a screen adaptation, but this film had a different fate - to become a manifesto of a whole direction, which was called "poetic cinema". This direction had the greatest publicity in the context of Ukrainian cinematography of the specified period.

Ukrainian cinematography was started way back in 1896, more than 125 years ago. The first film was shot by Alfred Fedetsky in Kharkiv in 1896, but it was not like the cinema we are used to. The tape was entitled "Transfer of the Miraculous Icon of the Mother of God from the Kuryaz Monastery to the Kharkiv Pokrovsky Monastery." She (title) immediately describes the plot of this two-minute long work. Thanks to this tape, A. Fedetskyi became the first Ukrainian cameraman of documentary films. At the same time, screenings of French films started in Lviv.

Another vivid example is the film festival "Open Night", which for the 24th year in a row opens new Ukrainian names in the field of cinematography and television production. "We. For us. About myself" is the motto of the festival, which carries fundamental for today theses regarding Ukrainian-language cinema. The main goal of the festival is to support national cinema, joint and foreign films that preserve the traditions of Ukrainian cinematography. Everyone who wants to can present his film, the two main conditions are the Ukrainian language and a twenty-minute film duration.
