Such a significant phenomenon as Ukrainian poetic cinematography has been in the circle of scientific interests of L. Bryukhovetska for a long time. Our editors conducted a survey in which 100 respondents of different ages and genders took part. The era of sound cinema and the "Golden Age" of Hollywood began. The concept of "movie star" appeared. In 1929, the film "The Jazz Singer" was awarded a special "Oscar" award for the creation of the first sound film. Over the next thirty years, thousands of films were released. The main genres of American cinema were clearly defined - westerns, comedies, melodramas, musicals, thrillers, etc.

The tape "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" owed its success to the brilliant synthesis of the original literary source (the novel of the same name by M. Kotsyubynskyi), directing, cinematography and artistic skill, music, and acting. That is why the success of this film was shared between director S. Paradzhanov, cameraman Yu. Illenko, artist H. Yakutovych, composer M. Skoryk, actors I. Mykolaichuk, L. Kadochnikova.
