Wide use of archival materials seems to us to be especially valuable in scientific research. This concerns the historical exploration of the Kharkiv researcher V. Myslavsky, dedicated to the first decade of game cinema. The author "equipped" his essay with numerous references to pre-revolutionary film magazines and beautiful iconographic material. Footage from "pre-revolutionary" films is all the more valuable because the tapes themselves have hardly survived.

In films in the genre of fantasy, the original ideological and aesthetic guideline is the superiority of imagination over reality. A picture of a "wonderful world" is created, contrasted with everyday reality and familiar, everyday notions of plausibility. Fantasy and horror films are closely related genres of cinematography. Most of the popular plots of film fiction are borrowed from legends and myths. However, cinematography has its advantages over books: it is able to realize any ideas in a visual form, impressive with unique special effects. That is why, when studying the cinematography of the 1930s, two important aspects should be taken into account: the social one, which prevailed in the cinematography of the Soviet period, German cinema and the cinematography of the United States, and the ontological one, which gave an impetus to the understanding of the processes that took place in the French cinematography of the specified period.

The literature and social activities of J. Osborn and J. Kerouac had a significant influence on the American film process of the 60s, which determined the figurative and thematic orientation of the "counterculture" phenomenon. Another vivid example is the film festival "Open Night", which for the 24th year in a row opens new Ukrainian names in the field of cinematography and television production. "We. For us. About myself" is the motto of the festival, which carries fundamental for today theses regarding Ukrainian-language cinema. The main goal of the festival is to support national cinema, joint and foreign films that preserve the traditions of Ukrainian cinematography. Everyone who wants to can present his film, the two main conditions are the Ukrainian language and a twenty-minute film duration.
