The world cinematography of the 1970s and 1990s is associated with the work of its outstanding personnel, who in their films turned to various philosophical and aesthetic concepts that helped them to protest against spirituality, to affirm the ideals of humanism, and the values of high human feelings.

A special place in this period was occupied by the phenomenon of film comedy, represented by the work of H. Aleksandrov (1903–1983) - "Funny Boys", "Volga-Volga", "Circus" and I. Pyryev (1901–1968) - "Bagata the bride", "Swineherd and Shepherd".

The systematization and generalization of important material is carried out by the research of H. Filkevich "Pages of the history of film music in Ukraine" and the investigation of O. Ravlyuk-Holitsyna, dedicated to the art of cinematography in Ukraine. These topics, which were only episodically highlighted in the domestic film opinion, seem to us to be extremely promising. After all, it is no secret that the cinematography school of Ukrainian cinema has an undeniable authority all over the world. The material of the essay itself has considerable potential. The same can be said about the perspective of covering the history of film music in Ukraine (emphasis on the wide use of folk melos, which works to strengthen the emotionally meaningful coloring of screen images).

A text dedicated to television (by I. Pobedonostseva) stands a little apart from the general picture. And yet its appearance seems quite logical in the general structure of the book. After all, today most of the films become the achievement of a wide audience precisely thanks to their demonstration on the TV screen. In addition, television makes it possible to introduce the younger generation to the heritage of cinematic classics. Essays are thought to be just the beginning. They will become the foundation of the publication, built on a systematic and consistent presentation and analysis of the processes and phenomena of domestic cinema.

Movies of the thriller genre do not have clear signs, but cause the viewer a feeling of tense experience and excitement. Sometimes horror films are included in the category of thrillers, and in some places also detective-adventure films, in which the emphasis is shifted to the preparation for some unique crime. Director A. Hitchcock is considered a recognized master of thrillers.
